5 extra Indians reached the semifinals to verify medals for India on the Asian boxing championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on Sunday (April 5. 2026).
World champions Minakshi Hooda (48kg) and Jaismine Lamboria (57kg) obtained the higher of Japan’s Yuka Sadamatsu and China’s Ziyi Chen respectively with an equivalent 5-0 verdict to enter the final 4.
With Minakshi and Jaismine’s wins, all 10 Indian girls in fray ensured medals.
Minakshi will meet Thailand’s Thipsatcha Yodwaree, whereas Jaismine will face Uzbek Olympian Nigina Uktamova.
Three extra Indian male boxers, Akash (75kg), Lokesh (85kg) and Harsh Choudhary (90kg), posted equivalent 5-0 wins over Turkmenistan’s Yhlas Bagtyyarov, Korea’s Kim Gichae and Kyrgyzstan’s Tynystan Alybaev respectively in quarterfinals to enter medal rounds.
Akash, Lokesh and Harsh will tackle Javokhir Abdurakhimov, Jasurbek Yuldoshev and Parviz Karimov respectively.
Altogether, six Indian males have booked berths within the semifinals.
