The Kalinga Indoor Stadium in Bhubaneswar will host the 2028 World Athletics Indoor Championships, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) introduced on Thursday.
The World Athletics Council allotted the occasion to India following its assembly in Torun, Poland, the venue of the 2026 version beginning on Friday. India final hosted a worldwide athletics occasion, the World Half-Marathon, in Delhi in 2004.
“The worldwide competitors will likely be held on the Kalinga Indoor Stadium,” confirmed Athletics Federation of India president Bahadur Singh Sagoo.
A two-member delegation from World Athletics had inspected the venue in January final. The stadium, which is the primary of its form in India, is about to host the inaugural Nationwide Indoors on March 24 and 25.
The venue can be the front-runner to host the Asian Indoor Championships in 2028. An Asian Athletics Affiliation staff had inspected the Kalinga Stadium final month.
