Texas grand jury declines to indict former NBA player Patrick Beverley in assault case

A Texas grand jury has declined to indict former NBA guard Patrick Beverley after he was arrested final 12 months on an accusation that he had assaulted his sister.

Authorities in Fort Bend County, southwest of Houston, had arrested Mr. Beverley in November after his sister advised investigators he grabbed her by the neck, slammed her towards a wall and punched her within the face, based on court docket data.

The grand jury on Monday (February 23, 2026) declined to indict Mr. Beverley on one rely of assault of a member of the family. Mr. Beverley had been free on a $40,000 bond.

Mr. Beverley’s sister had advised authorities the alleged assault occurred after she sneaked out of her mom’s residence to see her boyfriend.

Shortly after his arrest, Mr. Beverley had posted an unsigned assertion on X saying he had unexpectedly discovered his sister, a minor, alone with an 18-year-old man.

Mr. Beverley’s attorneys, Rusty Hardin and Letitia Quinones-Hollins, mentioned in an announcement that Mr. Beverley “would by no means do something to hurt his sister and that he’s very grateful that the grand jury has recognised that.”

After the grand jury’s choice, Mr. Beverley mentioned in a put up on X that he was “deeply grateful for all ideas and prayers for the household” and “we should proceed to guard our kids, particularly our younger women.”

Mr. Beverley performed for 12 seasons within the NBA, beginning his profession with the Houston Rockets. He final performed for the Milwaukee Bucks in the course of the 2023-24 season.
