Where Every US Governor Stands on AI and Data Centers


Starting in early 2024, Henry McMaster (R), South Carolina’s governor, was the chair of the Southern Regional Training Board Fee on Synthetic Intelligence in Training.

In his position, McMaster convened with different schooling and enterprise leaders to chart a course for the usage of AI in school rooms and to organize the workforce for the expertise.

“When used accurately, AI is a robust software able to reshaping our schooling system,” McMaster wrote. “By working collectively, we will overcome the challenges that AI presents and harness its energy to make sure our college students are ready for the workforce of the longer term.”

Generally, McMaster is cautious towards speeding into authorities regulation on AI, arguing that politicians do not have a complete understanding yet of its advantages and disadvantages.

Concerning his view on information facilities, McMaster stated in late September that he doesn’t plan to name for a statewide information middle moratorium.

The state homes three of Google’s information facilities, which opened in 2007. In 2024, the corporate introduced it will set up two new information middle campuses within the state, a mixed funding of $3.3 billion.

“Google’s newest funding will strengthen South Carolina’s place as an rising chief in expertise and innovation,” McMaster wrote in a statement.
